Roswell Crit

Yesterday, after a very busy weekend, we decided we hadn't had enough action and went to the Roswell Criterion bike race. Todd took the boys earlier in the afternoon and met up with the Tuttles, who found a nice shady spot in front of Naylor Hall. It wasn't as crowded as the Athens race, but it was just as exciting! I met up with all of them after my long tennis match with enough time to drink a few cold ones and have a Fickle Pickle picnic. Whatta day!

Twilight 2012

Every year Athens hosts the Twilight Criterion bike races. They close of 1k of busy downtown streets, extend bars into the sidewalks, and sell all sorts of artery clogging street food. Sounds like a good night to me! Jammy, Todd and the boys and I all went to partake in what the town had to offer...sans the alcohol, unlike the rest of the crowd. The boys had so much fun watching all the bikers go by 'super-really-fast' and cheersing. We almost made it to watch the men's race, but after the women did a 25-lapper, it was 9pm and time to go home. See ya next year, bikers!

Strawberry pickin

After today's last soccer game, we packed up our chuck wagon, dropped the dogs off at Dawn's and headed east to Washington Farms. They were having their 2nd annual strawberry festival with tons of rows of ripe, delicious berries to pluck right off the plants! Mmmmmm. Then, we rode a covered wagon to the festival portion and the boys jumped, ran, slid, and rode on all sorts of apparatuses. We ended the afternoon with some homemade strawberry ice cream and fresh popped kettle corn. I love these kinds of festivals!!

Last soccer game spring 2012

Today the boys had their last soccer game of their spring season. Nolan had 7 goals and 4 assists. He clearly stopped running to score a goal at one point and passed it to his teammate so his buddy could score! Everyone was so impressed!! Reed did an amazing job...cheersing from the sidelines. We had a small awards ceremony for the kiddos and gifts for the coach. What a fun season!

Happy 8th bday, old chap!

Yesterday was Nekoh's 8th bday! We celebrated by going for a nice 3.5 mile run, followed by and afternoon of lounging. Ah, the good life :0)

Allergies

Reed: mommie, I'm allergic to bad guys and monsters.
Mommie: really? How do you know?
Reed: that means you don't like them.
Ok.

Deadliest catch

It must have been a rough season out on the wild ocean for this rogue fisherman...or a few weeks of working from home without the necessity to shave. But with crab as expensive as it is, maybe he should go work on a big fishing rig! He'd fit right in and I bet they wouldn't notice that he has no idea what he's doing when he looks so much the part. Too bad he doesn't like seafood :(

Someone please let us out

Yesterday, Bob and Mika were at the house and we were all in the front yard hanging out and playing. I briefly glanced at the backyard and saw two little noses peeking in between the fence posts as if to say, "please let us out to play!"

Comedy, pancakes, and futbol, oh my!

Last night Todd and I went to go see one of his favorite comedians, Joe Rogan at the Tabernacle downtown. Thanks to a last minute sleepover with the goodloe's we were able to go kid-free! We sure hope Jammy is feeling better today!!
This morning we picked to boys up early to go to breakfast where the nice chef at Nikki's Diner made their pancakes into the shape of Mickey Mouse. They loved it!
Their soccer game went off as it always does, Nolan scoring loads of goals while Reed sits on the sidelines and cheers him on. They both had fun in their own ways!

Happy, ahem, 36th bday dar!!

Lindara celebrated her birthday this weekend with baseball, soccer, baseball, and more baseball. Anna scored a goal in her game with her left foot. Braden caught a pop fly, made a double play and got the game ball. Wil hit a grand slam and got the game ball and they all went to the Braves game. Sounds like her bday was planned by a bunch of guys!
We love you, Lindara, and hope you had the best 40th birthday ever! Oops, I mean, 36th.

Steeplechase 2012

While Todd was golfing with his buddies this weekend for their annual Farlin Classic in Greenville, Nana and the boys and I went to the horse races at Steeplechase. It's probably a little over an hour to Kingston Downs and in the fashion of typical 4-year-olds, they kept asking, 'how do we get to the horse races and when do we get there?' Nana and I wore our cute hats while the boys wouldn't dare change out of their soccer uniforms. No matter, we had fun picnicking, watching the races, sliding down the big inflatable slide, watching bagpipers, and just running around the infield kicking a soccer ball. We'll for sure go back next year, so ladies, get your hats ready!

It is not fun...it is AWESOME

Even though the twin girls birthday was over a month ago, we had to find a good time to do something with just Cinny. So, this afternoon I took them to the cooler to do some ice skating. There was a lot of hanging on to the walls and busting our bums, but they had a great time. Every time I'd ask them if they were having fun, they'd say "it's not fun, it's awesome!"

Who DID NOT used to do this?

Tonight I went over to my friend Katie's house to help with the big garage sale we are having to help raise money for our 2-day breast cancer walk. This is her 6-year-old cutie pie, Claire, pushing their sweet pug, Scarlett, in an old timey baby doll stroller. It just brought back memories of when I used to dress Tinker up and push her around in an umbrella stroller. Ah, the good ol' memories! Mom, think you can dig up a picture of me pushing Tink around!?! That would be awesome.

Day 3

As we're watching the transformation of a fat, happy caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly, I can only get the start of what happens during this life cycle out of my mouth before one of the boys yells...'hey look over there! A tree, a leaf, a bird, wanna throw a ball, hey, let's ride bikes, is dinner ready, owwww Polly, stop biting me!' Guess they're not quite ready for a science lesson.

Last minute road trip

Boys trip to Charlotte! The Pelletier's were in town for a visit so Todd packed up his car with the the boys, some over night gear, and several electronic devices to keep them occupied as they hit the road for the not-so-short trek to NC. Pete and I had a nice night out in the 'burbs while they were gone. First we went and saw 'The Hunger Games' followed up by a food fest at 5 seasons brewing. Now, the boys need to hurry home to see what the Springster Bunny has left for them!!

Southlands Easter egg hunt

It never fails... our neighborhood has such a great Easter egg hunt at our playground every year and we all have a blast. They do the egg hint, the Easter bunny rides down to the playground on the firetruck, they get their pictures taken with him and they get to feed and pet some lovely exotic animals. (and a few barnyard ones as well). Nana and the Tuttles came to join us and we got to catch up with the neighbors. Happy springster, y'all!

Triple date

I guess that's not what this really was, but the boys love having dinner and playing with their best gal pal, Hannah!

One day...

I'll be a beautiful butterfly! What is the metamorphosis time frame on a caterpillar becoming a butterfly? Looks like the boys have some research to do. Just hope that it doesn't happen and we miss it!

Atomic wedgie

The boys came home tonight from their long vacation in Athens. You would have thought that they would have been worn slap out! Somehow, they conjured up enough energy to run around shooting each other with water guns and laughing while receiving wedgies. It made us all laugh! Let's hear it for the boys!

Blondes have more fun

Yes, yes, yes, I'm still finding ways to humiliate my dogs. Hey, my kids aren't home, otherwise they'd be wearing the Marilyn wig! Nekoh was a good sport!
